BYOB Map — Privacy Policy

Small Tools Studio ("we," "us," or "our") operates the BYOB Map mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

Information We Access

Location. If you grant location permission, the App uses your device's GPS coordinates to center the map view and calculate which restaurants are nearest to you. This calculation happens entirely on your device. We do not transmit, log, or store your location on any server. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the App remains fully usable without it.

Restaurant data. The App displays a public list of Philadelphia BYOB restaurants (name, address, phone, cuisine type, corkage fee policy) served from our Firebase Firestore database and Firebase Storage (for images). This data is read-only and is not connected to any individual user account.

Account (optional). BYOB Map works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in, we use Firebase Authentication and collect your email address and an internal user ID. This lets you save restaurants as Favorites and associate any corkage fee / equipment report you submit with your account. The App also automatically creates a temporary, anonymous guest identifier when you first open it, even without registering, so the App can function without a login wall — this guest identifier contains no personal information unless you choose to register.

We do not collect:

• Your name or phone number
• Photos, contacts, or files from your device
• Payment or financial information
• Any user-generated content (there are no reviews, ratings, or accounts in this App)

Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used so we can improve it. This is separate from the precise GPS location described above, which is never sent to us. Google Analytics for Firebase may collect:

• App usage data (screens viewed, features used, session length, button taps)
• Device and app information (device model, OS version, app version, language)
• An anonymous, app-specific installation identifier
• Approximate location derived from IP address (city/region level only — not precise GPS)

This data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from Firebase. It is not linked to your account and cannot be used to identify you personally.

We also use Firebase Performance Monitoring to measure technical performance such as app startup time, screen rendering speed, and network request latency. This data is anonymous, aggregated, and used only to help us identify and fix slow or broken parts of the App — it is not linked to you personally.

We do not currently use Firebase Crashlytics or any other crash-reporting tool. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy to disclose what crash data is collected.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services to function:

• Google Firebase (Firestore database and Storage) — to serve restaurant listings and images
• Google Maps — to open turn-by-turn navigation when you tap "Get Directions" (this opens the Google Maps app or website directly; we do not receive data from that interaction)

These services may have their own data practices; see Google's Privacy Policy for details on Firebase and Google Maps.

Children's Privacy

BYOB Map is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children. The App's optional account features are not designed for or marketed to children.

Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your BYOB Map account and its associated data at any time by emailing byobmap.tw@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete my account," sent from the email address associated with your account. We will delete your account — including your email address, internal user ID, and saved Favorites — within 30 days and confirm by email once complete. If you previously submitted a corkage fee or equipment report, the report content is retained as part of the restaurant's public listing data (it is not personal information), but its association with your account is removed. Restaurant listing data in BYOB Map is not tied to individual accounts and is unaffected by account deletion.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date.
